Everyone loves a white Christmas, but no one wants to spend January and February shivering in wet, dreary weather. Before your winter blues really kick in, take a quick flight to one of our favorite warm weather getaways.

Miami, Florida

Miami is so much more than just a playground for the spring break set looking to frolic on the beach by day hit the clubs by night. An established art scene, bolstered by the Art Basel festival and affordable studio spaces, continues to flourish in the Wynwood arts district. The culinary landscape is also vibrant, featuring a range of amazing international cuisine and of course, an abundance of flavorful Cuban influences.

Where To Stay

The Four Seasons opened one of their latest iterations in Miami beach, The Surf Club. The sandy-toned marble interiors with green-blue accents mirror the stunning beach views you’ll enjoy from your room for a tranquil place to rest. If you want a little more Miami flair, head to the retro-glam Faena hotel. (Yes, it’s where the 24 karat gold wooly mammoth skeleton that reliably crops up on your Instagram feed, resides).

Where To Eat & Drink

The Freehand hotel, a stronghold for the hipster set, boasts a fantastic restaurant located in an adjacent 1930’s house designed by Roman and Williams. The bright interior at 27 restaurant is has a beach casual vibe but the international menu is top notch. Make sure to order one of the tiki inspired cocktails. Try a new twist on sushi at Chotto Matte–the Nikkei-style cuisine combines sushi with Peruvian influences. If you’re not in the mood for food enjoy the ambience, including a retractable roof and graffiti walls, while sipping on a cocktail.

Los Cabos, Mexico

An easy destination for anyone on the west coast—it’s a short 2 hour flight from LA—Cabo has pristine beaches on the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula. If you’re looking for a quiet trip we recommend San Jose Del Cabo, but if you’re looking for more of a social scene, Cabo San Lucas is your best bet. On either side, you can opt to lounge in the touristy resorts or rent a car and explore more of the peninsula.

Where To Stay

If you opt for San Jose Del Cabo, stay at Las Ventanas, a celebrity favorite for its luxe accommodations and stunning beach. If you’re looking to get away with a special someone this is the place to go, they even have a romance team that can help arrange couples massages or romantic beach dinners. Hacienda Beach Club is a great option if you’re looking for an active retreat with their free yoga and spin classes as well as complimentary water sports like paddle boarding.

Where To Eat & Drink

Organic farming is flourishing in Cabo. Flora Farms covers ten acres, including  a rustic, open air restaurant where you can enjoy your meal overlooking the verdant fields. When making your reservation, request a 30 minute tour of the grounds to learn more about the foods you’ll be consuming.

Image Courtesy of Playa Grande Beach Club

Dominican Republic

For the east coasters, the Dominican Republic offers an accessible Caribbean beach paradise. Punta Cana is the tourist capital, with white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, but this country has a rich cultural history that can be seen in the Zone Colonial in Santo Domingo. Admire the local wildlife by taking a whale watching tour from the Peninsula de Samamná.

Where To Stay

The Playa Grande Beach Club on the north shore of the island is a boutique resort made up of one- and three-bedroom bungalows.. The highly curated vintage furniture is hand-selected from international artisans by interior designer and owner Celerie Kemble. While many of the mega resorts in Punta Cana are overrun with tourists, head to Sublime Semana in Las Terrenas for a more unspoiled view of the island. Flanked by lush green forests and crystal clear waters, you’ll find beauty everywhere you look.

Where To Eat & Drink

Nearby the Sublime Semana is Pico Cabana, a quaint beach front restaurant serving up fresh local seafood with Caribbean flair and a breathtaking view. Many of the best upscale restaurants are tucked away in resorts, so do a little research before you go. We highly recommend La Cava at the Eden Roc. It has an extensive wine list and the brick roofed cellar is cozy and romantic.
